CEFC congratulates Dexus and Cbus Property on Sustainability Award

The Clean Energy Finance Corporation has congratulated Dexus and Cbus Property on their award for the sustainable development of the historic 5 Martin Place, Sydney, site.

The project was recognised with the Clean Energy Finance Corporation Award for Best Sustainable Development - Existing Buildings at the 2017 Property Council of Australia / Rider Levett Bucknall Innovation and Excellence Awards.

This award is designed to encourage innovative development and sustainability practices that reduce the ecological footprint of existing buildings.

The 5 Martin Place project embraced sustainability principles in both design and construction, including:

• The use of the existing façade
• Recycling of almost all demolition and construction waste
• Use of salvaged materials in the building
• Energy-efficient design, and
• Incorporation of bicycle-friendly facilities.

The building achieved a 5 Star Green Star rating for design and construction as well as a 5 Star NABERS energy design rating.
