CEFC statement regarding Central-West Orana REZ
4 April 2025
The CEFC has committed up to $750 million including partly concessional finance via the Rewiring the Nation (RTN) Fund to the development and construction of the Central-West Orana Renewable Energy Zone (REZ) in NSW. The financing was announced by the NSW Government earlier today.
The CEFC committed to financing the Central-West Orana REZ in November 2022, alongside a consortium of lenders, in a syndicated debt financing to developer ACEREZ.
ACEREZ, a partnership of ACCIONA, COBRA and Endeavour Energy, was appointed the network operator to design, build, finance, operate and maintain the Central-West Orana REZ transmission network1.
The project will deliver at least 4.5 GW of new network capacity by 2028, to connect 7.7 GW of wind and solar projects, which is enough to power more than two million homes each year.
ACEREZ expects construction of Central-West Orana REZ transmission lines to begin from mid-2025 with the lines expected to become progressively operational by 20282.
With this latest investment, the CEFC has committed $3.535 billion through the RTN Fund, across six transactions.
The CEFC is operating in line with caretaker conventions until resolution of the 2025 Federal Election.
