Implement
This step involves implementing the activities that you detailed in the FERP and, tracking outcomes of implementation and progress against the FERP. Monitoring and measuring outcomes will provide information to assist future decision making and enable record keeping for a wide set of stakeholders.
Implementing the activities
Transition your FERP from strategy to reality. Your FERP provides a project plan for your farm. The timelines and objectives for emissions reduction activities set out in the FERP, can be integrated into your daily operations creating sustainable practices.
Providing evidence of implementation
Document every step of your journey towards lower emissions. Maintain records of operational, management, and productivity changes as they happen. Monitor changes in your inventory data that supports your GHG emissions baseline. Record keeping should include invoices, photos, logs, or any other form of verifiable proof that confirms the execution of your plan and for each emission reduction activity. If using debt finance, there may be specific reporting requirement for loan products (as outlined by your lending bank), also note that if you are looking for acceptance into certification schemes or selling into markets, identification of the evidence for your emissions reduction activities is increasingly required and an important step in obtaining certification or market access.
Reporting progress
Regularly measure and record the results of your emissions reduction efforts. Prepare these findings so they could be provided to other stakeholders. Use the progress reports to not only track execution of the FERP but also to reflect on your farm's performance and identify areas for further improvement. The CEFC Measuring what matters report includes a set of metrics for monitoring performance of key decarbonisation activities.
Actionable steps:
- Retain evidence of FERP implementation through invoices of expenditure, record-keeping and GHG baselining activities. Example evidence and reporting is included in sections specific to each of the eligible emissions reduction activities.
