Our investment

The CEFC has committed up to $150 million to the Octopus Australia Sustainable Investments (OASIS) fund.

A CEFC cornerstone commitment of $75 million in 2022 was made alongside leading superannuation fund Hostplus.  A subsequent CEFC investment of $75 million, in 2023, was made alongside the Rest superannuation fund.

The Octopus platform, created to help manage Australia’s energy transition, aims to finance the entire renewable energy life cycle from development, through construction and into long-term operations. In July 2022, it had a secured portfolio of $3 billion across wind, solar and storage, with a visible pipeline of an additional $5 billion.

our impact

The CEFC investment marked the entry of a major global fund manager into the Australian market, enhancing Australia’s position as a global financial hub and helping to drive the transition towards net zero emissions.

Octopus Australia is a subsidiary of the UK Octopus Group, one of the world’s largest and most experienced clean energy investors. Octopus owns and operates Australia’s largest solar farm, Darlington Point, is building the 180 MW Dulacca wind farm in Queensland and has a $5 billion wind, solar and storage development portfolio across the National Electricity Market.

Australia needs significant renewable energy build-out to tackle the task of decarbonising the grid and meeting our net zero targets. We are pleased to facilitate the entry of a major global fund manager into the Australian market while also working alongside key superannuation funds.
