CEFC welcomes Dr Guy Debelle to the CEFC Board

The CEFC has welcomed the appointment of Dr Guy Debelle to the CEFC Board.
Minister for Climate Change and Energy Chris Bowen and Minister for Finance Minister Katy Gallagher made the announcement today.
Dr Debelle is an adviser to the Investment Committee of Australian Retirement Trust, a board member at FundsSA, a non-executive director at Tivan and chair of the advisory board of Famille Capital. He is also co-chair of the ASFI Taxonomy Technical Experts Group developing the Sustainable Finance Taxonomy for the Australian economy and is an honorary Professor of Economics at the University of Adelaide. He has a Bachelor of Economics (honours) from the University of Adelaide and PhD in Economics from MIT.
Dr Debelle was the Deputy Governor of the Reserve Bank of Australia from 2016 until 2022 and prior to this was Assistant Governor (Financial Markets) from 2007-2016. After leaving the RBA, Dr Debelle worked at Fortescue Future Industries as CFO.
CEFC CEO Ian Learmonth said: “The CEFC Board oversees the efficient and effective operation of the CEFC. This includes prudent oversight and governance of CEFC investment decisions and risk management. Board members bring deep market, governance, investment and legal expertise. We look forward to drawing on Dr Debelle’s extensive experience, including sustainable finance taxonomy, as we continue to invest in Australia’s clean energy transition and the goal of achieving net zero emissions by 2050.”
Dr Debelle’s appointment took effect on 8 December and is for a five year term.
Dr Debelle replaces Mr Tony Concannon, who was appointed to the CEFC Board in 2022 and retired in February 2024.
The CEFC Board acknowledges the service of Mr Concannon, who continues to contribute to the CEFC via the specialist CEFC Rewiring the Nation Investment Advisory Committee.
